Practical digital guide
Freelance Guide
A practical first-client guide with editable offer, scope, delivery and follow-up records. Focuses on controlled commitments and factual evidence.
SECTION 1 / PREVIEW
Choose a bounded service
Start with something you can already deliver reliably. Define one output, a realistic time allowance and a customer who can assess the result. Distinguish skills you have practiced from services you are merely interested in learning. Do not sell regulated work or use another person’s confidential material without the necessary permission.
Try the exercise
Write your service, buyer, included output, exclusions and evidence that you can deliver it.
Worked fictional example: Example: format a client-provided two-page document; exclude copywriting, legal review and unlimited revisions.

Final task in the full edition
Write a fictional client brief, scoped quote, acceptance criteria, revision limit, handoff and a response to a scope change. Rehearse delivery without sending an unsolicited sales message.
Check: deliverable is inspectable; exclusions are visible; time and costs are realistic; acceptance and payment timing are explicit; private client information is excluded. A friendly reply is not an agreed contract.
Version 1.1. Bring one skill you can already demonstrate. Personal use or internal use within one purchaser-owned business/project. Share your outputs, not the supplied content. Classroom redistribution and resale are excluded.
What you will do in the scenario lab
Scope-change quote lab. Draft two versions of your response: accepting an agreed paid scope change, and declining extra work politely. Explain why a cost floor is not a final recommended market price.
Editable fields: Original quoted price; Original labor hours; Your hourly labor cost; Other direct costs; Additional hours requested. Includes a fictional example, invalid-input feedback and backup/restore for your work.
Allow 1–3 hours for written exercises and the applied lab; independent evidence gathering takes longer. This is a planning estimate, not tested completion time.
Current desktop or mobile browser. Offline HTML; JSON backup and print/save PDF. No AI, account or installation.
